The Omega Course was held on March 14th - 22nd 2008. All the participants left feeling blessed and enriched by the experience.
The team arrived in the harbor on Patmos in the early morning of the 15th, where a car was waiting to drive them up to the hotel 3km (1.8 miles) away. Classes began that morning with Rev. Bill Vassiliou teaching on the book on Revelation; Dr. John Gianopoulos taught on Daniel. The classes were engaging. Following the lectures, the team was split into small groups where we tackled questions relating what we were studying to the church today. It was interesting to find that, after 2000 years, we still have much in common with the early church!
While we were there we had the chance to visit the cave where tradition says that the apostle John received and wrote Revelation. As we stood on the very spot where John is said to have stood, the team experienced mixed feelings of excitement and awe, as well as some skepticism since we don't know exactly where on the island Revelation was written.
The fellowship was marvelous. We had such a good time talking, sharing, praying and worshipping the Lord together. This was an incredible adventure!
Here is what some of the students have said:
"This week has reopened my eyes to the fact that our Lord wants us to seek Him through prayer and fasting."
"My favorite part of the trip was the fellowship and bonding."
"It really brought the book [Revelation] to life and made it seem so much more real."
"This was the best-by-far learning mixed with must-see experience I have ever had."
"I found it amazing to sit alone at night overlooking the sea contemplating God?s huge work received by John."
I hope you?ll join us for next year?s adventure as we travel to other Biblical locations.
